Honor Assata with actions (individually and collectively) that lead towards the Liberation of our people (physically and mentally).

Necrogrifting: the exploitation of collective grief, tragedy, or loss for personal, or political gain. It involves politicians, pundits, or public figures performing sympathy or outrage while redirecting attention, resources, or loyalty toward themselves in manipulative, and opportunistic ways.

A part of the trick is to devilishly get you to debate things that shouldn’t be debatable.

The National Guard was deployed against Black Folks during the Ferguson Uprising. They labeled the protestors as “enemy forces.”

Today, the National Guard has been deployed to Los Angeles, against Brown Folks, in response to the I.C.E. Protest. They’re labeled, “violent insurrectionist mobs.”

If you’re against police terrorism, you have to understand that I.C.E. and the local police are both law enforcement agencies, paid for by the government (one the federal government. Both have access to military-grade weapons. Both disproportionately targeted and terrorize Black and Brown folks.

When I think about the infographic below, I reflect on which countries are allies and how it reshapes the ways these destructive numbers can be understood.

While Target is abandoning its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion commitments, I guarantee you that Target will still be capitalistically committed to targeting Black consumers during Black
History Month, Lantinx consumers during Latino Heritage Month, and LBGTQ consumers during Pride Month.

There’s a difference between “peace” and avoiding conversations that are uncomfortable, but vital to evolving. That are vital to combating oppressive systems, individuals, and governments.

Don’t confuse avoidance with securing “peace.”

I heard that it’s more “peaceful” over here.
