This is a large radio telescope, painted entirely white; the upper half is its large dish antenna, pointed directly upwards; the lower half is the support tower, positioning structure, and access stairs. The telescope here sits in the New Mexican desert, flat and dry with a low horizon. The sky is blue with a few small clouds near the horizon.

On the path at lower left, leading to the telescope, two people stand and observe.

This very large #Round thing is one of the 28, 25-meter (diameter) radio telescopes that make up the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array ("VLA"), about 50 miles west of Socorro, New Mexico [USA]. Two people in the foreground give an idea of scale.

The next Eclipse we have to look forward to is the BIG one on the 12th August 2026, Total Solar Eclipse. Partial from the UK and most of Europe. Total from parts of Greenland, Iceland, Portugal, and Spain. πŸ” πŸ§ͺ

Tomorrow night I'll be attending Newcastle's match against Man Utd. I wonder how many goals we'll concede this time. Average is around 3 lately.

Blood moon lunar eclipse lights up skies around the world The full Worm Moon coincides with a full lunar eclipse creating a 'Blood Moon', as Simon King explains.

Full Worm and Blood Moon shines in night sky. This naming business is getting ridiculous. πŸ” πŸ§ͺ www.bbc.co.uk/weather/arti...

Well the clouds did eventually clear again, but as I didn't set up the Eq mount, this is the best I could manage, with the limb cut off due to it drifting across the eyepiece field. #lunareclipse πŸ” #astrophotograohy
