Habeas Corpus cannot be selectively applied based on immigration status or any other factor; otherwise, its underlying value as a right becomes useless. To even determine if a person is covered by other rights, this fundamental principle must apply to all. It must be an unquestionable universal.

So a guy who is supposed to be so brilliant at business doesn't understand that creating "efficiency" doesn't mean just getting rid of things you are supposed to do?

Was typing an idea on my phone and meant to write - “most powerful nation”, but it came out - either through thumb fumble or autocorrect -, “lost powerful nation.” And yeah, that tracks.

DOGE has nothing to do with efficiency. It’s a full frontal attack on government in its existence.
As Trump said - he wants everything to be private sector.
It is an attempt to have market take over of all aspects of life including our democracies.
Reminder: the government is We THE PEOPLE.

Are we tired yet of progressive leadership telling us not to fall into fatalism?
Give us something to be hopeful for. Point a real way. Show a vision. Be leaders and give us all a reason to be a part.

Or STFU about how we are supposed to feel.

There is no human rights without democracy.

I am so curious to see how younger populations are reportedly turning away from democracy as a concept while deeply attached to human rights.

I suspect a core part of this is the current culture of democracy and how they don’t see their agency in it.

My fellow Americans: we are more than what we buy at the supermarket.

Until we fundamentally realize that and reconnect to our true values, our elections will continue to imperil the fabric of our democracies and the power of our communities.

It does seem to support the old saying that ultimate power corrupts ultimately, looking at the shifting values of these horrible humans. (With very few exceptions).

The amount of money, energy and resources, that the hyper-wealthy are putting into shifting the Overton window to a place where everyday fascism is accepted - is both petrifying and working.
We need deep work in reconnecting people’s political understanding with their deeper values to halt this.

DEI is not contrary to a fair meritocracy. It’s a means to achieve it in a world full of bias. The attacks on and removal of DEI programs will be a huge disservice not only to individuals from marginalized backgrounds but to businesses and consumers.

It’s been the plan all along. Public money is frozen. The intent to destroy every sector that is not the private sector + neoliberalisms wet dream is finally realized: every aspect of life ruled by the market - one which is already stacked, unequal, and fairly dysfunctional in many regards.

Remember when reporters used to have to go under cover to explore the world of white nationalism and neonazis? Now they just have to schedule through the White House Press Office.

True liberation for all queer people must be center in and can only come as a result from honoring our authentic selves.

And that presses up against the fears that hold many people in place from a similar transformation. “If they could be authentically themselves so could I” is scary. The resulting friction emerges as anger and hate despite having no impact on their own lives or actions.

I suspect a good deal of where the hate and fear of trans people (and queer ppl more broadly) is not just the implications of gender but the fact that people can boldly transform themselves and their relationship to a world to be authentically themselves despite what the world pressures them to be.

And if not, it’ll then be quite a rager I guess….

Women have to over perform in politics…by a lot.

Despite knowing history and having been through this all before, we are driven to do it all again as societies. As populations we are as unable to adjust our behavior simply based on knowledge as we are as individuals.

An area @bsky.app ( @support.bsky.team @safety.bsky.app ) clearly need to take care of is the spam bot issue. I have reported about 20 people of the same name and repeated image use over the last week and continue to get account follows. It seems it would not be that hard to fix this issue.

Being on BlueSky is a bit of an experiment for me. Still not sure if I put energy and attention here. Not the app specifically, just this kind of social media. I like LinkedIn a lot - because i see colleagues share useful ideas and resources for political organizing. Not clear the value here yet.

To be clear, posting stories to Insta is not activism. (That is about ego and self image). Of course many people now think just being loud in any context is what will get demands met. With no intent to call people into movements, to move them, it’s just political selfies, not political action.

Democracy is going off the rails globally. I need to know more about the context of S. Korean politics - but this all feels like a movie portrayal of dystopia.

Breathing in, it’s just a Tuesday as any other Tuesday, breathing out - give us money!
