Neighbourhood health teams are in the news again today, set to be a central part of the forthcoming NHS 10-year plan.
These services work best with rehab at their core, and AHP leadership driving them forward.

The number of people waiting for MSK services continues to rise.
The number of people waiting more than a year for rehab is also going up.
Lives being ruined, people falling out of work, health inequalities widening.
Good work by @davewwest.bsky.social digging into the stats.

I have a horrible feeling we should be thinking harder on this side of the Atlantic about whether this is a new form of techno-authoritarianism that could be copied beyond the US, and if so WWYD, because at the moment thereβs lots of great learning lessons from Trump victory but not from Muskβs

Properly fund services for the work they are commissioned to do. Invest in workforce expansion /planning and be proactive as opposed to reactive. The only way to cut waiting times is fully staffed services of the right establishment numbers to see ptβs in a timely manner.

Rob Yeldham, director of strategy at the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, said:
βThe dropping of so many indicators is a concern because what gets counted in the NHS tends to be what gets done.
βProgress on the rollout of womenβs health hubs, staff welfare, community services and other areas cannot be allowed to stall in the absence of a target, so it is vitally important that the NHS continues to monitor these issues.
βIndeed, we need better data and reporting in areas like rehab to drive the very improvements which the government is rightly committed to.
βWe and other organisations will be pressing NHS England to continue to report on all these areas, along with the need to invest in the physiotherapy workforce.
βItβs clear that the governmentβs ambition to move more care out of hospital, including through the expansion of integrated neighbourhood teams, will require significant physio involvement.
βItβs essential that the NHS makes full use of the healthy supply entering the workforce and creates a band 5 role for every graduate who wants one.β

CSP raises concerns over cuts to womenβs health hub expansion plans
