14 days in and I’ve been whammed.

One of my holiday traditions is to rewatch the Lord of the Rings trilogy. It not only reminds me that I should really read the novels, but also what it says about the wonderful value of friendship.

Call me crazy, but on my umpteenth viewing of The Fellowship of the Ring, the dark speech of Mordor coming from the ring sounds like “Dodge dodge m’gosh, hodge dodge Deepak.” Possibly I’m just punchy.

It beats the alternative.

All that’s needed now is a good strong earthquake.

This is what 4 years of remission looks like. Not particularly dignified or even svelte, but very grateful.

I’ve never seen what I would consider a good and faithful adaptation of Frankenstein. The Karloff film bore little resemblance to the book, apart from the whole “make a dude out of corpses” thing, and Kenneth Branagh’s version was just awful. I have high hopes for this one.

It’s on my list.

Mamdani: I would say that for the former governor to have spent an entire day speaking almost exclusively about me and barely about the New Yorkers who have been killed is indicative of the very politics New Yorkers want to leave in the past.

Few things satisfy like a simple meal you not only prepare yourself, but can share with someone as an expression of love.

Ironheart…so far, I absolutely love it. Dominique Thorne is excellent and she is supported by great writing, and an equally great cast.
