Former epidemiologist, writer, gamer, knitter and obsessed with my dog. Lots of TTRPGs. I like to make people sad over fictional characters for fun. 41, lesbian/kinky, disastrous, she/her.

28.02.2026 18:24 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0After all, you can't be the SMARTEST if anyone else agrees with you, so you have to go out on a limb with some totally unsubstantiated bullshit.
27.02.2026 01:27 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0All of this stems from the toxic need to be the smartest person in the room, and to convince yourself that you are by disagreeing with the consensus of experts.
27.02.2026 01:26 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I wish people would think for half a second if they actually know enough to give people advice on things that could literally be life and death.
27.02.2026 01:24 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0When people say ignorant shit like that all it does is remind me that there are a lot of people out there who think they can hold themselves forward as experts when they can't even wrap their brains around the most basic concepts.
27.02.2026 01:22 — 👍 6 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0Still worth it because of the decreased risk of serious outcomes.

I think we need two COVID vaccines per year at the current level of effectiveness, and I would gladly get them if they were made available.
I also get them with the full expectation I could still get COVID, and thus continue to take other measures to avoid infection.
As a former infectious disease epidemiologist ... I cannot tell you how much i wish people who have no idea of what they speak would stfu.

Yes, I think treating a dog badly is a red flag where I would not trust that person to treat other people well. And I do also think it's a red flag if a dog who is normally chill doesn't like someone.
I just don't think it's safe to use the inverse as a green flag.
Not to mention, treating animals well can be a good sign of someone's character, but there are also plenty of people where they treat their dogs vastly better than they do people.
Been thinking about it a lot since a documentary I watched about a really awful serial killer with a beautiful Golden.
I think sometimes the "dogs can tell" thing backfires spectacularly. It's really easy to think that someone can't be that bad because their dogs still love them.
But y'all, one of the things we love about dogs is that they don't judge us.
Huh, like a Mast Cell thing but I think that's often worse for things that are riper?
I really hope you're able to figure things out in a way that lets you eat bananas still. Losing food from an already limited list sucks. :/
My diet has been pretty limited lately for a variety of reasons and I would be upset to lose one of the things I can reliably eat.
Do you think there's any chance it's a temporary thing? Or a particular batch of bananas?
Oof, I have that problem with some preparations of eggplant and with softshell crab. It sucks because I like both of those things a lot.

I am with you there. It's been over a year since my last time on a plane and I didn't miss it.
Would have done this as an 18 hour drive instead, except that the weather is still dodgy enough for winter that I didn't want to risk it.
They did steal my shoes after they felt me up for my bra, but until then I was golden! 😛

Oddly, I went through security this morning at 4:30 am at a smallish airport and not only did they not make me unpack any electronics, but I also didn't have to take off my shoes.
... Until my underwire set off the sensor. 😂
One time at a "every electronic device needs it's very own bin" airport, I was traveling with two laptops, a Switch and a Kindle and I regretted everything.
22.02.2026 15:38 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0I often travel with two laptops because I have my personal laptop and my work laptop and it suuuuccckkkks.

I tried tomatoes here once and sprouted like fifty of them and couldn't stand to kill any so I planted them all. But I also followed the traditional wisdom of planting them in direct sun. They all died except one that was partially shaded. I got one tomato from that plant.
Tasty, though.
After the traumatic train videos I didn't even do the road version. 😂
18.02.2026 03:08 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0My driver's ed instructor would just put on videos of pedestrians being hit by trains and then leave the room to smoke.
18.02.2026 03:03 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0But it happens so much in ways where it feels icky. Like stolen thunder. Or like making sure the audience is there to provide peer pressure for a "yes".

When I was growing up my dad always told me ... You shouldn't ask someone to marry you unless you already know what their answer is going to be.
So I'll allow there are people out there who want a public proposal though my introvert self is HORRIFIED at the thought.
These same assholes were all over the ACTUAL SATANIC PANIC. NOW they're worried?!

16.02.2026 16:28 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Oh no. I'm in danger. I have a list of ones I would love info on, do you want them one at a time or all at once? Whichever is easiest for you.
