Verenix, but Roclin, perhaps? 🤔

-can only be performed by Highborns. The magic needed to extract pure metals from ores, and shape it to the cities needs, for example, is a task only Highborns can handle.

Yes! A significant one.

Magical burnout is fatal, and happens if a roclin uses more magic than they have 'prepared'. Since all magic is, to borrow from DnD terminology, ritual casting, having a higher magical capacity lets you perform longer, and powerful rituals.

This means certain jobs-

Very true!

It is the one perk of having magic as a core theme. You're kinda free to do whatever you want.

-each city-state can have a wildly different culture or perspective.

Generally speaking, roclins are much more egalitarian. Life in the Deep Dark is dangerous. So it's very much a 'we're all in this together' mentality.

It does go deeper, but I'd probably end up with like 15 replies to tell it.

Still have yet to figure that part out. Kinda tempted to hand wave it with !!!MAGIC!!! >.>

And it honestly depends. There aren't really 'nations' as such in the Deep Dark. Instead smaller, individual city-states. (The tunnels are far too dangerous to support multi-city empires) So-

-the highborn, or lowborn caste.

That is, at its core, the prime difference. Of course, size, colouration, ECT are also tied to the hatching conditions. Highborn are usually taller, with colours of rare gems and minerals.

-a large portion of magic from two roclins, it becomes an egg.

The size of the chunk determines how much magic can be infused into it, and the amount of magic infusted determines the resulting 'magic capacity' of the child. That magic capacity then determines if they fall into-

I'll try my best to summarise!

Roclins aren't born in the normal way. Cities are built around large, crystalline pillars called 'Brightstone'. Every 300 cycles, these pillars shed excess material, forming egg-shaped chunks.

On their own, these chunks are inert, but, when infused with-

Too damn true.

If you're like me, you get intense bursts of worldbuilding energy, then months of wanting nothing to do with it.

Oh lordy I know that feeling. Naming and all.

Is it like a 'one wagon for storage, one wagon for living' kind of affair?

01.03.2026 18:24 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Well, the biggest difference is, to be brief, 'magic capacity'.

Bluesky doesn't really afford me much space to detail things, but, if you like I can try to elaborate more on it!

I like it! A nice, vibrant little group you've got going on here.

I'm extra curious now, how do they get around?

01.03.2026 18:15 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

It's a really fum bit of worldbuilding, if y'ask me. Especially if you start thinking about the local materials, potential for trade, ECT. (Though I know I am guilty of getting far too carried away, myself)

What kinda performances do they do? Is it like, theatrical, musical?

Loving the outfits here! I've always found clothing to be a huge pain, especially ones with lots of layers like the first and last.

Is your setting is spread across lots of different climates, given the differences in clothes? :o

A drawing of six fluffy kobold-like critters with more hair than is legally allowed making up the mentioned group.
Top Left - a black furred guy, and name giving leader and "dad" of the group.
Top Middle - Mute white haired wearing robe like clothes.
Top Right - Equally white furred songstress with a red dress and much more smooth and straight hair and fur.
Bottom left - More messily looking creature with a large braid over her right shoulder. Stronger build with the vibes of a fluffy fat cat.
Bottom middle - nervouse looking guy in blue robes
Bottom right - Friendly looking girl wearing warm winter clothes.

Trying my hand at drawing characters that have been swirling around in my hand in an attempt to visualise the settings I've been thinking up :>

I was well and truly obsessed with the Rito for a good few years.

[RIP my 23-chapter long fan-fic]

Not really any other species like em' sadly. But alas.

Thanks for the suggestions, Kez looks pretty rad

I'm feeling a bit of a pull towards a bird mood again. But here's the thing. I'm kinda' over the Rito. Nintendon't is a nasty company and I don't really care for their creations anymore.

So with that in mind. Anyone know of any cool bird species in fiction out there? (That's not DnD races)

send a real message. Simply because I don't think anyone is actually willing to truly stand by their principles. The sheer enormity of things you would block yourself from in an effort to avoid and boycott anything even slightly antiqueer makes it virtually impossible.

And yes. I am queer. I'm gay.

I feel obligated to declare;

Yes. I bought Hogwarts Legacy.

Yes. I played it. And did enjoy it.

No. I do not like JK Rowling.

Yes. I think she's a piece of shit infested with black mold.

Yes. I think she deserves all the pushback she gets.

No. I do not think boycotting one game is going to

So. If you're one of the militant Hogwarts Legacy haters, but continue to support, buy from, and play Nintendo products?

Kindly, and with all the politeness I can muster: Go fuck yourself, and your armchair activism.

And, since we live in the "Saying 'I like pancakes' means 'I hate waffles' world"

Nintendo. A company where one of its largest shareholders is Saudia Arabia; A country that is infamous for its *real* vilations of LGBTQIA+ rights. A country that jails, tortures and kills queer people.

Of course, I wager most of those people either don't know, or don't care about that fact.

on it so much is because JK Rowling is an outspoken transphobe. Key note on the outspoken part.

Yet, I'm willing to wager all the people who screeched about how buying the game was 'actively hurting trans people' went out and bought Tears of the Kingdom 3 months later in may.

A game made by

I know fully well that this will likely be poorly recieved. But hey. Some things I feel need to be said.

I'm seeing a lot of posts, and discourse around Hogwarts Legacy. And frankly, I find it annoying from the sheer hypocrisy of it all.

Let's be real, the single reason people are dogging

Oh no, honestly I'm much the same. I've technically never played Vanilla Rimworld. First time I booted it up I had Prepare Carefully installed.

My playtime exploded after the Orassans mod came out that added cat people. And BioTech+mods only increased that.

I think I started playing in Beta 14, nearly a whole 10 years ago. (God I'm old)

The first update I experienced was the one that added drugs. Been playing on and off ever since, more or less!

It's a very addicting game. Nearly 7k hours and I'm still dumping my life into it.
