Congratulations to Vanessa Arranz for her participation in the 14th international temperate reef symposium (ITRS25) in Brest, France.

An impressive talk about: Strategies of echinoderms in response to ocean acidification. An “omics” approach from a natural laboratory.

Good job💪🏼⭐️

🌍 Wide distribution: Lives on rocky and sandy substrates from intertidal zones down to 100 m depth, spanning the Mediterranean and eastern Atlantic.

🧬 Asexual reproduction via fission: It splits along its central disc and regenerates the missing parts. In the western Mediterranean, only one male genotype has been found — replicated through repeated cloning!

Introducing Coscinasterias tenuispina — a fascinating multi-armed starfish from the Mediterranean and eastern Atlantic 🌊

💪🏼 Variable arm number: this species typically has 6 to 9 arms, a trait linked to its mode of asexual reproduction.
