In this Black History month, I hope to see more of my demographic (white) posting about books and stories of Black authors they’ve been reading over the entire year, and not just reading this month

I’ll start: I read Legendborn in March last year, and it’s one of my favourite more recent reads

May his life be filled with as much kindness and softness as possible going forward

And may all the children, like Liam, be released and reunited with those who love them

I do hope my countrymen are watching the awful things in the US and noticing that there are far too many friends and neighbours who are on or heading down paths that are just as bad as those that we are judging

We cannot just shout over the border

We need to shout here too

It was too far the first time

It’s been too far *every* time

And yes - the best time to stop this was when it started. The second best time is now - and the fact that it’s waking so many up only *now* is something that should be unpacked and sat with by far too many

The thing that angers so many people who are watching the US right now, is that the US has *always* been the bully. Has *always* been this way

The citizens who have been treated the worst have been saying it forever

And yet, it apparently takes the murder of a white man for it to be “too far” /1

Journalists, please remember that repeating obviously false statements is not balance or fairness. It is actively participating in deception.

They are going down the list of amendments now. And the entire ICE action is the most obvious violation of the Fourth Amendment this country has ever seen.

Don’t fall for Nazi Propaganda tactics

Don’t let the truth become a lie

And that your so called president is only worried himself and no one else

And

Maybe now you’ll believe those who tried to tell you and maybe now you’ll listen to them

Your most vulnerable communities tried to warn you

But maybe now that a white man has been shot you’ll actually believe that your government has declared war on your citizens

That your government had declared war on its closest allies

For someone who keeps saying they neither want nor need anything from Canada, he sure does throw a lot of tantrums over decisions our government makes that exclude him and his country

when we’ve screwed up and are genuinely remorseful and working to fix things

But I am still so angry and tired. Every day just brings more bs and threatens the lives and livelihoods of far too many for no reason other than ego and megalomania

Maybe one day I’ll be able to. Today is not it

It’s been a year since he took office. I want to extend olive branches to those who have seen the error of their ways and who understand the impact of the decisions they made to put him there - and I can’t seem to. I want to extend grace and empathy, and I’m struggling

Because we should get grace

There’s been a lot going on that I’ve had to deal with, and it’s taken it’s toll, but I’m taking it slow and starting to feel like I can handle more again 💛

I know it doesn’t feel like a day for pride or celebration for many US friends who have been fighting back - especially after the bill passed

And I know I have been far more absent than I want to be

For today, this emotional support Canadian is checking in to listen

Popping online to say that I hope those who are protesting in California manage to avoid injury and and are able to make it home safely tonight ❤️

Yea it does. And it’s not going to stop sucking. So getting the rest in so I can come back and fight to help reduce the suckiness again ❤️❤️

Spent weeks door knocking and working on changing minds in person and the disillusionment is still strong 😕

Still politically burnt out from our election plus everything happening down south every damn day
