When I turned 30 I had not yet written my first published book or my first published novel and did not know (or know of) some of the most important people in my life. I didn't know how much my life could still change, and did, after the age of 30. There is so much your life still yet to live.

Tangentially, friction IS genre. The things that are iconic about your game beyond mere aesthetics are probably the things that will drive some people away from your game, but they'll also captivate others. Never try to make a frictionless astroglide game.

When designing for a general audience, flow is the most important outcome of your mechanics. Friction attracts genre fanatics, flow attracts newcomers and casuals. So, what kind(s) of friction are you going to prioritize, and how much?
