West 49th could use space reallocation to accommodate active transpo or bus lanes. It's 4 lanes wide, of which only 2 are usable because of an occasional parked car.

09.02.2026 23:12 β π 16 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Vancouver announces bus lanes on 49th, Movement reacts with Heated Rivalry-themed rally. Does Hudson Williams support bus lanes on 49th Avenue, and will he celebrate his birthday with us at our lookalike competition?
The City of Vancouver has just announced all day bus lanes on 49th Ave. Movement strongly supports this as the push for bus lanes on 49th was Movementβs first campaign back in 2023, and weβre excited to see results. The question is: Why only Cambie to Fraser?
09.02.2026 18:49 β π 11 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0The City proposed curb side bus lanes here. Weβre open to other configurations, including ones that retain some parking and widen sidewalks in exchange for general purpose lanes. This could be centre running or offset bus lanes. Transit signals would allow a bus lane to make a turn like with R2 ext.
07.02.2026 02:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Temporary bus stop sign for route 25, tied to a tree with zip ties. Grassy unpaved temporary bus stop. No parking signs line the street where parked cars are parked in the bus stopping area.
How do we feel about this?
07.02.2026 02:43 β π 8 π 2 π¬ 1 π 1We can have buses that actually show up on time, but we need to speak up. Vancouver doesn't hear from transit riders enough.
Fill out the City's survey about Hastings by Monday Feb 9th, or send a letter anytime!

A graphic with a light pink background and the following text: "The city is proposing 24/7 bus lanes in front of Hastings Park" "(thumbs up) an extremely busy section for transit, with 1,000 buses a day" a map of the all-day bus lanes being planned on Hastings, only between Renfrew and Boundary "(meh face) we need bus lanes on the rest of Hastings too, where thereβs more delay!" a map of bus delay along Hastings, which shows that the most intense delay is west of Renfrew, outside of the proposed bus lanes
On a dark pink background: "Bus lanes help your bus show up on time." An illustration of a bus with a speech bubble that says "I'm late again" and a squiggle signalling frustration above the bus. A text message from a friend reads: "the r5 is like stuck in trattic and this person shouted "I thought this was the rapid bus not the waiting in line bus!"" with a haha react
A dark pink circle on a light pink background contains the following text: Transit doesnβt have to be slow and unreliable! 1) fill out the Cityβs survey with a supportive comment 2) send a letter asking for more bus lanes
All-day bus lanes on Hastings are coming! But only for a tiny section.
Extensive, all-day bus lanes would make bus trips feel more like SkyTrain, and they only need signs and paint.

Vancouver Council Majority Rejects Snow Removal Priority for Transit
βWe are disappointed. This motion was simple, it aimed to ensure that everyone, not just frequent transit riders but also snow-day transit users (like drivers who want to keep their car parked during a storm) have reliable transit access during harsh wintersβ - Aman Chandi movementyvr.ca/vanco...

Did you know: at least 1,240 Metro Vancouver bus stops donβt have benches for waiting riders! π±

A sad little cartoon bus is stuck sliding in the snow, it says "help me!" on the front and it has a face that is upset and scared. A text box says "Has your bus ever been stuck in the snow? On Feb 4th, Vancouver Council is considering a motion to prioritize transit trouble spots for snow clearing. Send an email or sign up to speak in support!"
You can help get this poor bus out of the snow! This Wednesday, February 4th, Vancouver City Council will vote on a motion to give snow clearing priority to transit trouble spots. We can't believe they don't do this already.

With municipal elections coming up in October, it's exciting to see candidates in the region are campaigning to win the support of transit riders. There's over 1 million of us, a third of Metro Vancouverites use transit at least once weekly.

A diagram of the bus lanes on Granville in Marpole showing the existing, originally planned, and updated lanes. Existing bus lanes are peak hour, only in the peak direction. The original plan was to extend bus lanes in both directions during AM & PM peak hours, southbound from 63rd to Marine, and northbound from 63rd to 70th, and 24/7 bus lanes on Granville outside of those blocks. The updated plan has been rolled back south of 70th, to be weekday peak hour bus lanes instead of all day bus lanes, and northbound from 62nd to 63rd has received the same treatment.
Yesterday was the first day of the Main and Broadway road closure, we have lots more to say about that soon. π
