Would prefer that to this mania of 1) stacked discs with difficult access, with 2) an awkward "spring" system to release the discs (already snapped one spring!!) and 3) tiny hinges which really easily latch onto the disc and bend it when pulling them out... And the booklet is glued to the case too!

This box set is really, really good but I wish that whoever was in charge of the box design and specifically how the discs are stored would stub their toe every single time someone tries to get one of the discs out, just to experience the same stress and pain.

I'm not going to be obnoxious about having a chunk of time off but being able to just take a short walk at 9:30am when it's sunny and fresh outside is just really good for the soul.

Yes the head *is* quite big!

The visibility isn't brilliant, the eye holes are quite wide apart so it's the usual fursuit experience of not seeing the middle of your vision, times ten. You get used to it but you have to pay attention.

Yeah there's a holotape on the original Fallout talking about the raccoons that escaped, was meant to be a lead in to the village but they left it even when they strapped the rest of the idea as 'too fantastical' - which in today's Fallout probably wouldn't matter!

I rewatched it recently; had soured on it a bit by the time the OG run finished but funny how much better it feels when you don't have to wait six months for a new episode (and it's an Onion ep). Renewed my love for the OST too. Sugar recently performed some at MAGFest, it's on YT - worth a watch!

Figured I'd do another Old Art Archive Adventure while picking a new icon for March.
This below picture by ArkOtter is one of my very faves of Flint, dating to ca. Confuzzled 2014-15. Inspired by an evening sat at Millers Bar at the con venue, enjoying nostalgic tunes with friends and drinks.

I generally find the traditional Tolkien-esque elves the most boring of all boring fantasy tropes but Amalur's lore for them - that they're effectively endlessly repeating the same lives over & over again - is genuinely neat. Esp. with the wider theme of what happens when those lives suddenly change

Kingdoms of Amalur really is the most unbelievably cookie cutter fantasy game you could ever have (partly why I'm replaying it, it's a comfort food)... but at the same time it's one of the few fantasy games that's made elves /interesting/, which is a mad feat for an otherwise generic game.

Going to have a short intermission sequence of reviews up next and then I'm off to the final stretch with the Chumbas. Need to start deciding what the next long discography revisit subject should be!

New music review up: Chumbawamba's final album with their 'classic' line-up finds their folk sound starting to root in place, as a transitional album filled with South American and Cuban influences. Also I talk about a very specific mp3. 2004's Un.

I've got a few personal, bigger projects I want to work on - but also looking forward to just having some *free* time for walks, exercise, doing my own things at my own pace, etc. And I've also got a CBT (the therapy, not balls) check-in appointment next week to start some self-treatment.

The official reason is for me to deal with house stuff back home - and I am going there too for a little bit - but really this is a mental health break for me. I'm still struggling a little bit from time to time and have just needed a proper /break/ for a while. My aim is to refresh during this time

Well, I have logged off work and the next time I'll log in will be in four weeks. Last year I put through a request for a month of unpaid time off, and that time starts now. Which is wild to think of.

Someone was selling a sealed copy of this box set on Discogs with a hefty discount price so *yoink*. Going to tide me over for a little bit digging into all this goodness.

Just catching up on all this now and it's so baffling.
