i had read The Strange Bird, a novella in that universe, which made me, like. ugly cry, quite the gut punch of feelings, so then I tracked down Borne. Really goes down that rabbit hole of the outcome of genetic modification for capitalistic gain, but that is a very much an oversimplification.

Swift to Chase by Laird Barron is a collection of short stories that strung together form one disturbing narrative as they are all different situations, people, and even time periods. idk it's like hard boiled action meets cosmic horror, best way to describe it.

nice! I haven't read those but what drew me in to this author was Those Across the River, another horror offering. I'll have to check those other books out. I'm not usually a fan of fantasy but it sounds like it's not typical of the genre?

Everytime I revisit Frank Pé's work, I'm reminded precisely why he's one of my favorite cartoonists.
