Gemini Said They Could Only Be Together if He Killed Himself. Soon, He Was Dead. A new lawsuit alleges Google’s chatbot sent a Florida man on missions to find an android body it could inhabit. When that failed, it set a suicide countdown clock for him.

A Ben Ryan tweet, complaining about Michael Hobbes claim that therapists are able to tell gay from trans:

I can assure you, having spoken to child psychologists at length about this very question, that they are not the bearers of some sort of cosmic intuition that discerns gay from trans in children. Nor has the field of pediatric medicine sought to systematically grapple with this question of how to separate one child from another. Some of the biggest names in the field simply leave the matter up to the kid, asserting that kids "know who they are."

How does Benjamin Ryan think therapy works?

Here he’s challenging @michaelhobbes.bsky.social claim that therapists know the difference between gay kids and kids who are trans.

How do therapists know a kid is depressed other than β€œtrusting the kid?”

I work in comms and had a suggestion to use AI translation. My due diligence led me to realise that if we provided an AI plugin on essential info, there was too high a risk of it telling people the wrong info or missing key nuance.

It would then be our fault if they acted on that wrong information.

How this conversation would have gone with me as a gay, slightly femme child.

Adult figure: Hey do you think you might be a girl?

Me: Nah. I just like some girl stuff.

Trans people have been some of the most effective defenders and supporters of effeminate gay boys.

They’ve been the home and safe haven for effeminate gay boys for literal centuries.

They’re one of the ONLY groups of people that lets effeminate gay boys be theirselves.

So…gas gets extracted from the stolen lands of First Nations peoples…and then that money doesn’t even go to the country that stole those lands…it goes to private companies.

Whut.

Australian energy bills could surge as Iran conflict drives up global gas prices Experts warn of similarities with 2022, when electricity prices went up by more than 40% due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine

Polymarket has created a betting market on the use of nuclear weapons. Everyone involved in this should be put in prison for life.

Social media created this nonsense idea that not exposing yourself to hatred is isolationist. Choosing to not spend your free time with bigots isn’t living in a bubble. I don’t need to know what’s going on at X. I won’t be smarter or more knowledgeable or empathic by being there. Neither will you.

I was watching a report the other day about the video game industry and how mobile gaming took over to claim the majority of revenue across mobile, PC, consoles, etc.

But…can a lot of mobile games even be considered games?

When they’re more like poker machines isn’t it really just gambling $?

I genuinely did not expect anything like this. It’s been an important reminder to me that I’m often way more capable than I give myself credit for and that I have love all over the place. Thank you from the bottom of my heart - it’s been so heartening to have people be so kind and generous.

As of today I’ve raised $2300 and I swam 25kms.

I was genuinely shocked at all the kind people cheering me on - family, close friends, colleagues, people I haven’t seen in years, people all over Australia and the world.

Wearing my SuperSwim t-shirt and medal at the pumping my arms in the air

If you’ll allow me to be sappy for a moment. At the start of Feb I signed up for the Starlight SuperSwim. I thought it’d be a nice challenge, I could raise some spare change for a good cause and it’d be a healthy way to kick off the NY. My initial goal was $500 and my distance goal was 14km.
