I genuinely did not expect anything like this. It’s been an important reminder to me that I’m often way more capable than I give myself credit for and that I have love all over the place. Thank you from the bottom of my heart - it’s been so heartening to have people be so kind and generous.

As of today I’ve raised $2300 and I swam 25kms.

I was genuinely shocked at all the kind people cheering me on - family, close friends, colleagues, people I haven’t seen in years, people all over Australia and the world.

If you’ll allow me to be sappy for a moment. At the start of Feb I signed up for the Starlight SuperSwim. I thought it’d be a nice challenge, I could raise some spare change for a good cause and it’d be a healthy way to kick off the NY. My initial goal was $500 and my distance goal was 14km.

Yeah, I know. I’m queer. We do have to practice community safety measures. Every single day to protect ourselves and our loved ones. But we don’t magically have the ability and resources to manage 250,000 people at a public event while IS inspired/neo Nazi attacks are on the rise against us.
