Update but Tom got back to me today, I ordered the insulated shipping box and ice packs for her (cost almost $120 just for the packing supplies jfc) and will probably be sending her off next Monday. 🫠

It's a very weird feeling talking regular pet stuff about Maya to people who aren't aware of the December incident, there's not really a reason to trauma dump about it but it's just a strange headspace to be in. 🥲

than what society expects me to do. I don't want to just bury her in the ground or cremate her (not that either of those are bad, it's just not what I want to do).

I think people assume working with dead animals makes you desensitized but I think if anything it's made me more connected and empathetic, and really changed my perspective on death. I'm not religious or even really spiritual but I'm thankful that it's given me the outlook to mourn differently-

The chest freezer is basically just Mabel and then my feeder rats for my snakes so I just go in the garage to get food for my snakes and say hi to her. 🥲

(Mind you for those who don't know, I used to work as a taxidermist so I have two chest freezers specifically for dead stuff)

I can fully have relief until I know her body is safe with him. I have a temperature sensor in the freezer and track it on the first page of my phone because I literally would die if the freezer went out which I HAD A CHEST FREEZER GO OUT LAST YEAR SO I HAVE TRAUMA WITH THAT TOO.

I'm also in such a weird position I don't think most people find themselves in because I still have her body in my chest freezer (waiting to get the ok to send her off to Tomsimagination for some memorial preservation work) so there's still like this one final part left to do and I don't think-

I didn't mod my GBA too much basically was just a shell/buttons/speaker update and then I added a backlit screen (which is a battery eater LOL) but it otherwise runs the same as a regular GBA!
