Summarization code starting to do its thing when a repo doesn’t have a description.

I once had it write a recursive delete command procedure for OpenVMS and it deleted every file in my SYS$LOGIN. That was a few model generations ago, to be fair. And other than that its DCL isn’t half bad.

My repo auto-summarizer looks like it’s working.

Claude Code showing some old school unix sass.

The answer was Spider-Man, right? Action is his reward.

I’ve noticed this as well. Bursts of insanely high productivity that need to be padded by rest, rather than hours of medium-productivity. It helps if I can context switch and alternate to personal projects or even just talking through small, random ideas with Claude.

$4 is a good deal. Need to find one of those carts.

My old newsroom coming in hot...

If this means we’re getting a four-hour Heart of Glass episode please let me know so I can get time off of work.

Neat! And thanks for working on this. Do let us know if there are newsrooms we’re missing!

Claude Code is damn good at troubleshooting weird Linux problems. Self-healing servers are only a few steps down the road β€” and most of those steps involve building user confidence and trust.

So I told it to try again without stealing.

I wouldn't publish it, but it's too dull to be mad about. No shame in not doing as well as Minard did with the same data but this feels like a unintentionally sad powerpoint presentation.

It simply redrew the Minard map, but with some six-finger-esque AI touches like mangled text. Pretty good to figure out what the data was, but bad form to just pick-pocket old Charles-Joseph.

I don’t work there any more. I get what you mean. But a position in a union contract negotiation is not the same as management saying they want to publish AI slop. There are other explanations.

I worked there for 15 years. You will never find a group of people less likely to fake a byline, or who sweat accuracy more than they do. You don’t mean to say otherwise, I suspect.

Why on earth would you think this was written by AI? It literally has a byline (it’s at the bottom β€” in my day we put those at the top).

Following up on my Nieman Lab prediction that news will return to its open-source ways, I’ve revived my old bot that posts new repos from newsrooms.
