The best way I have found to bond with random parents is to accidentally find out they're from Michigan and hold up my hand and ask them where on the Mitten they're from

Also hearing about your journey as a parent brings me a lot of joy

There is a lot of Mandarin Baby Content on YouTube! Our nephew listened to a lot of it!

Also when/if you start watching baby and toddler shows and it gets old, it's fun to switch to different language tracks since you already have it memorized in English

It's ALSO super cool as they're learning your primary language because you get to see in real time how linguistic rules work and don't work. Between learning to talk and learning to read, it's just incredible to watch in real time.

It is pretty cool to learn and practice languages with your kids because you don't feel as self conscious! And they're sponges that then start kinda teaching you back

Three days three cookie booths zzzzzzzz

We worked with Mason bees for the first time this year and they are so sweet.

A ladder precariously wedged into the back of a Chevy bolt with the seats down. There are a bunch of girl scout cookie boxes around it

Two booster seats
Cookies for a cookie booth
Drywall mud
A few fruit snacks
A whole ladder

This little ev is kinda great.

There's one that's got bowling attached to it that's basically a time capsule and the kids love it. There's something really soothing about rolling around in circles to music

I didnt ever get charged for my top up. I told them I never got a second shot bec ~~the 80s~~ and they were super chill about it.

Older kid just asked me to do the Macarena Of Time.

It is a DELIGHTFUL addition to the rotation. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Kids are listening to @historysnackspod.bsky.social on repeat and the younger kid has asked to see pictures of Mallory's body and Irvine's foot several times and boy this is going to be an interesting return to school next week.

And for the record I shouldnt do any of this because I need to fold a week of laundry for our family because it's on our bed. I'm curled up next to it and scouring the neighborhood maps in case I've missed an open eatery with a patty melt because the other place I miss is House of Pies

I want a pancake the size of my head and queso with a scoop of guacamole in it. And a questionably large Arnold Palmer.

Having the strongest nostalgia for Kerby Lane right now which is extremely unfortunate in a place where every diner closes at 2.

I did get a replacement carafe for the coffee maker for "I just need stimulants" days but it is nice to have the whole "grind fresh and coarse and have a really nice cup of coffee" when I can deal with the process

I cycle through all of these too. I guess it depends on how tired and how much coffee we need to make

Mom melted my coffee carafe so I got a French Press. Okay fine it's good coffee I still hate the clean up.

Took the kids to lion dances today and it was great and felt really wonderful to be in a crowd of folks sharing in this cultural moment

It is also a friggen sensory overload nightmare and I must to flop now.

Older one is ten and asked for The Hobbit and I nearly cried. She listens to audio books constantly but she still loves having us read to her.

So it's a bit father away still :)

Kid is listening to Anne of Ingleside or as I am hearing it "Anne of Perimenopause"

And the copy protection was a red piece of plastic film and a piece of red paper with codes on it.

Our goal is to prove generic usage.

The kid had a scavenger hunt thing for school where we marked off stuff that happened on the broadcast. And we never did get a pizza ad and "snack" was even kind of a stretch.

My favorite from our kids was "Yesterweekend"
