Secretary Rubio's remarks indicate that Israel put U.S. forces in harm's way by insisting on attacking Iran. And the administration was complicitβ€”joining their war instead of talking them down.

This is unacceptable of the President, and unacceptable of a country that calls itself our ally.

So Israel just gets to force us into war? Uh, maybe we should stop arming them then. JFC!

Do you have any estimates for the co-pollutants alongside the GHG emissions? I've seen the SELC estimates for NOx but if your analysis had any insight into that aspect of this I think it would be incredibly valuable as well. (This is already great, just have specific public health concerns too!)

Netanyahu so clearly wanted Trump to win and rejected any attempts at a ceasefire because (1) he wants genocide and (2) he wanted the war going on through the 2024 election.

Democrats need to realize that he wants them to fail. Biden refused to believe it and enabled him instead.

I work in a policy space where we’ve been actively begging dems not to engage and while we definitely have some policy folks against our positions we’ve found plenty of support for that position among ngos and elected officials at the federal level. YMMV

➀ It recorded that children, women, and the elderly make up 47.2% of those killed during the β€œceasefire.”

➀ It documents 1,856 Israeli field violations, averaging 13.5 violations per day, including live fire, drone strikes, artillery shelling, demolitions, and naval gunfire.

➀ The most severe violations, according to the report, concern aid. The ceasefire requires 600 trucks per day, including 50 fuel trucks. The document states that only 43.2% (260 of 600 agreed trucks) have entered overall, and just 15.1% of required fuel.

➀ It accuses Israel of providing β€œmisleading figures” to mediators and refusing independent monitoring, calling the fuel restrictions a deliberate obstruction of recovery and basic services.

➀ Only 1,753 of 4,200 scheduled travelers were allowed to pass through Rafah in both directions β€” a compliance rate of just 41.7%.

The report concludes that the violations form a β€œcontinuous and systematic pattern” that has stripped the ceasefire of practical substance.

Right and I agree with you on the policy front but there are areas that they need to work with trump that are not just legislation. It needs to be rare and selective af but a blanket refusal to do anything at all with trump is not ideal imo.

Here's a chart showing who funds basic research in the US. It's easy to tell that private funding cannot make up for significant cuts to government funding.

President Trump used last night's State of the Union address to portray himself as America's savior and protector, as the country marks its 250th birthday, Axios CEO Jim VandeHei says in a "Behind the Curtain" video.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ VandeHei says Trump "wanted to prove that he is the strong and patriotic one, and that Democrats, by contrast, are weak and weird. You saw this in the choreography from the moment he walked onto the stage until he left."

The president "knows that while he's unpopular, Democrats are equally unpopular. Democrats haven't done a good job of proving themselves to be an acceptable alternative to Trump."
"The most poignant moment was where he isolated on this idea of: Will you stand for U.S. citizens, or will you stand for illegal immigrants?" VandeHei added.

⏱️ "He just taunted and taunted the Democrats. He let it hang in the air for what felt like minutes β€” because he understood that the imagery of Democrats sitting down when he's saying 'stand up if you stand for U.S. citizens' is brilliant politics.""
