#CBS is far from the only US news outlet to pass along this egregious blunder . But this is an especially stupid and dangerous time to do so.

A good maxim in journalism is to avoid seeing a conspiracy when cluelessness is waving its hand. CBS is not in a position to enjoy the benefit of the doubt.
