Let's be honest, I'm not good enough to earn anything from my writing, even if the technical things work out. No one's going to read it, and if they do, they certainly won't enjoy it. I've had it proven to me time and time again that nobody likes me or anything I create. I should keep it to myself.

I found three different typos just from skimming that I somehow missed over countless sessions of editing. Should I give up or publish it anyway? I've already sent it out to get the copyright approved, so there's no turning back now, unfortunately...

Nevermind, I know I'll never be good enough.
I need to stop caring about whether or not my peers will like my works. People's standards are perpetually growing higher than I could ever reach. Me having no support, despite my efforts, means nothing.
Forget I said anything, and judge me how you wish.

Jean has a difficult time with self-love just like Quinn, but at least they can accept the love that others give them. Quinn, however, feels as though they aren't deserving of love because of lifelong guilt over things they can't control.

Demarcus was, briefly. His parents kicked him out a little while before his first year of uni, so until he could move into the dorm, he was on his own. He managed to get financial help from his extended family later on, even though they live far away.

I guess my point is to ask people to go easy on me once the book does finally make it onto digital shelves. Like, really put "don't judge a book by its cover" into its most literal practice. I know people generally don't do that, especially when it comes to self-published works, but still...

Intertwined is a passion project, yes, but idk, it'd be nice if I could feel even a shred of confidence that anyone besides me will like it. It'd be nice to think that it won't be seen as "cheap, lazy, self-published rubbish" just because I don't have enough money or talent...

I'm horrible at marketing, and like I said, I'm not in a good enough financial situation to pay someone else to do it for me. Plus, as much as I personally like my cover, I'm clearly not at the skill level of a professional designer. The one brownie point I get is that I never use AI.

Now, I have to wait who knows how long for the copyright to be registered and then hope that will be enough to appease Google, as I had mistakenly thought copyright was automatic, and now my account is suspended.
Even when I get that fixed, I have zero clue if I'm going to see any success.

I really don't like the situation I'm in...I can't afford to have someone else help me with Intertwined, be they a beta reader, an editor, a designer, what have you, and going the traditional route is simply not an option.

Writing Tip:
As a writing exercise, try making up your own fictional term. It can be anything from your fictional world (noun, verb, etc). Then, try to use it in a couple of sentences as a trial run. See if it actually sounds right, or if it just sounds like nonsense.

So yeah, it's complicated...And sorry this was in multiple replies; I'm still not yet used to character counts on posts. ^^;

At the same time, if readers feel "alienated" by the LGBTQ+/plural content of my books, then I don't want them reading them anyway. This is a stance I've always held and will continue to be more annoying about as time goes on. I'd rather not have an audience who are against my very existence.

Kind of...
It's not quite about differing views, more so the knowledge that, outside of a (semi-)professional context, I am an extremely unlikable person. I try to strike a balance between being just personal enough while also not letting any bad aspects of my personality show through.

Intertwined is effectively about two non-binary weirdos (/affectionate) and their respective friends and partners experiencing The Horrors. This bodes extremely well for Jean especially, trust me. :) I'm normal. :)

This bat, wings spread, approaches a hummingbird feeders from the ground up. The spread legs show a skin membrane that helps with identification. Mexican Long Tongued wear "skirts," whereas Lesser Long Nosed wear Pants. This one is wearing a skirt.

This bat's Alf-like snout hovers maybe an inch from a hummingbird port, ready to insert its long tongue into the nectar.

This bat's wings are held high above its head, like a shoulder shrug, as it pulls up from sipping hummingbird nectar, which they use to supplement their diets.

Happy Halloween! These nectar-eating #bats (Mexican Long-Tongued) are still hanging around our feeders! Saw a half dozen on a video with another fox last night!

The thing about my OCs that's good to know is they are all flawed I don't write perfect characters. I don't write perfect societies. They all have issues & problems & things that don't make sense. I love writing flawed characters & seeing how they grow from those flaws or how they bring them to ruin
