It is nice to see the real Jim Theis get recognition after being lost to the urban legend for so long. As I thought, it sounds like he was a nice, ordinary, and well-liked guy, and he deserves to be remembered for who he was. Thank you again to Walt for reaching out!

After so much speculation, I am really happy to see someone who actually knew Jim is out there willing to set the record straight. And I can't believe the sequel to "Eye of Argon" is finally out there in the world!

Grignr the Barbarian tale rediscovered The "Theis Verse" expands as a long-lost Grignr the Barbarian story is published by Walt Jaschek, with pages scanned from Theis' own manuscript and a original cover and intro by Walt.

I have enjoyed speaking to him over the past couple days. He has a lot of insight on this important part of fandom history.

Lyssa: I hope you are well and are grooving in a blissful creative state. I enjoyed your empathetic and joyful "Jim Theis" thread about the OSFAN days. I was a young member, too, though more active with Jim in our St. Louid comics club, GRAFAN. It was for the latter I eagerly published in our zine SON of GRAFAN the first two parts of Jim's follow-up tale, "The Sacred Crest." The manuscript got lost as editors changed, but I recently found it, scanned it, and turned it into the enclosed book; please accept it with my compliments. Thought you might enjoy seeing Jim's progression - the story's a big step up from "Argon," I think, and I believe the world needs to see it. I wrote the book's intro and designed it; it's on Amazon and elsewhere. In other words: Grignr lives! Best wishes, Walt

Walt Jaschek was the editor of GRAFAN in the early 1970s, and... he has the rumored sequel to "The Eye of Argon"!

I am now elated to announce a shocking update: I've been contacted by an IRL friend of Jim's!

I only found out it was at $0.99 again because it appeared on my sales dashboard. Someone bought it last week for $0.99. I feel really bad, because this person could have gotten it for free anywhere else. It's a 12-year-old 10-page short story, I don't want to be charging people money for that.

You can't natively set books to free on Amazon, you have to ask their customer service to price match by sending them links to other stores where it's listed for free. I have done this multiple times for this book, and it will always get set to free and the next thing I know it's $0.99 again.

Just a heads up to all, I have unpublished "The Choice" (Iamos short story) from Amazon because it is supposed to be free but Amazon has raised the price to $0.99 THREE TIMES over the last two years. It is free on all other retailers, so you can get it on another store or through my newsletter.

Over the last 24 hours, the most INSANE development has occurred re: my Jim Theis thread/blog post. Like, easily the most bonkers thing that's ever happened to me. I need to post an update but I have not been coherent enough to explain it all. I'll try to do a blog or an update on social this week
