From Matthew Goodwin to Restore Britain, the online right aren’t radical – they’re cringe

But don’t ask us to cheer regimes or movements that would strip those freedoms away in a heartbeat. That’s where it falls apart.

We share the liberal ground. Let’s not make coalition-building harder than it needs to be.

You want us to respect your pronouns? Fine. You want to wave the rainbow flag, call yourself what you like, change your sex? Fine.

We’ll defend your right to live as you choose. We won’t let you be bullied or demeaned.

You want respect, equality before the law, freedom from hatred? We’re with you

Don’t keep driving ordinary voters into the arms of Reform. They’re not on our side, and we all know it. Start from the liberal ground we share. That’s where the country actually is.

We agree on the fundamentals. But when some of our ‘progressive’ cousins in the big cities drift into niche campus debates or soft-pedal hostility from regimes that despise those very freedoms, it makes coalition-building harder than it needs to be.

For working-class liberals, which is most of us, freedom means something tangible: women’s rights, equality before the law, the right to live and love as you choose without interference so long as you harm no one, and keeping government out of your wallet and your private life.

Seeds are in the propagators! Plum tomatoes, sweet peppers, and cherry toms on the kitchen windowsill. Organic compost waiting outside. Not going quite so over the top this year, but definitely branching out with onions, cabbages and potatoes alongside the usual.

If change does come in Iran, and I hope it does, the decisive factor will not be foreign rhetoric but whether institutions emerge that protect free speech, conscience, association and lawful opposition. Freedom is not merely the absence of Khamenei, but the presence of genuine democracy.

The grotesque suffering of innocent civilians, including children and peaceful demonstrators, under the rule of the mass murderer Ali Khamenei should never be forgotten.

If reports are true that Ali Khamenei is dead, it will mark the end of a long era marked by repression, executions, the crushing of protest and the erosion of liberty at home, alongside destabilising interventions abroad.

All parents want the best for their children's education.

We must end the off-shore profiteering and ensure SEND provision is there for those children who need it.
