the like ass backwards underlying thesis of "all men are innately evil EXCEPT trans men who are uwu special because they Get women and are incapable of perpetuating misogyny" is kind of what's the biggest sticking point to me. like way to go you are also invalidating your trans protag's gender.

i also think it would have benefited from being written in third person, because it would be more impactful imo if the narration was consistently referring to the mc by the correct name and pronouns, whilst occasionally being interrupted by the dialogue of other characters because that would create

the mc has absolutely no personality. he is a blank slate with surgical metaphors crafted to look pretty in tumblr webweaving posts. there is nothing notable about him outside of that.

and it's biggest problem is one that i find only occurring in novels where the idea of "representation" is more important than making sure that representation is grounded and well thought out, which is Trying To Be As Appealing To As Many People In This Demographic As Possible.
