So, my husband’s protecting my privacy. It’s an AAR and he’s my PCA. Generally speaking, you put up with what the AAR driver puts on. It’s usually AM/FM radio. And the radio station was changed a few times. The ads were constant, and I doubt the driver wanted to listen to any ad more than R&B.

And yes, I know Chainsaw Man has won multiple years, and I think that’s also an example of limiting the ability of the award to highlight fantastic work.

My frustration with the Harveys as a way to recognize excellence in manga goes back years.

I love Witch Hat Atelier so much. But this is exactly why awards like the American Manga Awards are necessary. Manga is so vast, and Shirahama has an edge with Harvey voters as a previous awardee and both a mangaka and comics illustrator.

A new manga should have won.

Book banners refuse to acknowledge the unique role of the school library: “students must always remain free to inquire, to study and to [. . .] gain new maturity and understanding;” the library has always been “the principal locus of such freedom.”

Distribution is THE under-reported story in book publishing (outside of the trade publications) and losing B&T is going to have untold ripple effects on the industry, small presses, and authors.
