And then we often do this dumb thing where, when it's clear that something wasn't worth the investment, we try to force teachers to use it anyway to justify the expense and the decision to purchase whatever the shiny thing was.
We get this part wilful delusion, part sunk-cost thing going on.
As a profession, we've wasted so much time, effort and money on bandwagons and silver bullets.

One of my few "beefs" with LGfL is how they enable the "We can't be left behind" mindset in HTs and leaders.
I've been at two separate events where the speakers have created a caricature of a cautious, skeptical teacher who gets mocked.
At the core of any good school is excellent teaching, which requires good behaviour, which needs strong SLT and sytems, but which also requires engagement, which needs a relevant curriculum, which requires subject knowledge, which needs support, but also empathy.
It's not simple.
So unusable that I don't even bother buying their kits anymore and just use Dark Rock's kits in Pinter equipment.
08.03.2026 19:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Pinter is a great example of this. They've gone from having exceptional customer service to being next to unusable in the space of around 12 months.
08.03.2026 15:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Who is the OP for this? I'm not exactly blocked by a huge number of people and of those who do block me linked to education, I can't guess who'd be writing about that.

Reading comprehension is not a skill. Itβs an outcome of what you know. Strategies plateau. Knowledge compounds.

The biggest reason white kids underperform at school is because white children disproportionately have parents and caregivers with attitudes towards school and education like this.

With one exception, every setting with low attainment get needs attention for achievement and leadership and governance and every setting with close to average or above achievement gets expected or above for both.

Thank you.
Learning to play the piano is something I've wanted to do for the last 20+ but never really got going. I can play really basic one-handed songs ATM but that's it. I'd love to be able to play the song in the vid confidently.

How many hours of practice does it take to go from the absolute basics to being able to play this?

There is little concrete policy that has been made publicly available and I fear too much of the discussion about the Greens and their readiness to lead will be focused on sensationalising the drug decriminalisation plans at a shallow level and shit attempts at 'Gotchas'.
