The book cover for Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five shows 3 hands and one of those close up with an eye. Itโs a reference to the Tralfamadorian aliens, who are described as shaped like toilet plungers with a hand at the top and an eye in the palm
Slaughterhouse five by Kurt Vonnegut. Really enjoyed reading this despite it being a mind f*ck and pretty bleak. As in real life, the light funny parts can get you through the darkness. But you know โand so it goesโ #booksky

Flesh by David Szalay I loved it. The absurd dialogue was irritating at first but then you understand the main character, Istvan. There is love portrayed but a lot of it seems selfish, making a sad but compelling read. Overall maybe not so believable but still I highly recommend it. #booksky

Books for 2026 lined up on a bookshelf, showing the book cover of โSeven reasons to murder your dinner guestsโ by K J Whittle, followed by โFleshโ by David Szalay, โGilded Rageโ by Jacob Silverman, โThe Lacunaโ by Barbara Kingsolver, โOrbitalโ by Samatha Harvey and โBloedzangโ by Caro Van Thuyne
In 2026, my goal is to finish 26 books and maybe then I increase it by 1 per year to keep the alignment.
Iโll track it better as I buy books but mainly borrow them, some are gifted and then I lend many out, I also listen to audiobooks regularly and have two kindles on the go. Complicated! #booksky
This was the last book I read in 2025 and counting my #booksky book reviews, this was my 24th book (my annual goal has been 25 for the last few years). I do have a nagging feeling that I have forgotten a book.

Golden Child by Claire Adam, amazing book for a discussion on family loyalty, values and parentsโ aspirations. A thrilling quick read that evokes sadness and anger, makes you really get a feel for Trinidad in the 1980โs. #booksky
