yea agreed. where I disagree with the govt approach is they are raising taxes (good) but not even enough to just meet existing obligations, hence austerity lite. they might as well raise taxes by more, they’re already going to get crucified by the press yet only get a little extra revenue

whereas Albo refuses to meaningfully raise taxes and thus chooses low-spend low-impact policies, Starmer is raising taxes but spending it in the least visible ways possible while simultaneously doing austerity lite, so most ppl are like “what did I get for those taxes?” Worst of all worlds

Saikat Chakrabarti is coming for the Democratic establishment AOC’s former campaign manager is ready to take on Nancy Pelosi

Nancy Pelosi was asked, “what did the Democrats do wrong?” “And her answer was basically nothing... I just feel like it’s completely inadequate,” says congressional candidate Saikat Chakrabarti.

“Why has Albanese stuck his neck out for the incumbent? Because Starmer has, in many ways, emulated Albanese. And if he loses, it will also be a defeat for their shared approach of dour, plodding centrism, and for the network of political operatives who are now spreading it — and profiting from it.”

Albanese’s speech to UK Labour wasn’t partisan — it was factional Why has Albanese stuck his neck out for the incumbent? Because Starmer has, in many, ways emulated Albanese.

The problem wasn’t that it was partisan, but that he intervened in the internal politics of UK Labour, backing Starmer against a rising chorus of critics.
