I was at a union conference recently and a woman who worked for our umbrella national union and lives in DC said at her kids school in a professional neighborhood the majority of the kids had at least one parent furloughed or out of work

Our own union organizer quoted in this article as a fellow parent at this kid's school. Whether it's queens or Gaza, Either you stand up for all the kids, or you don't.

agree with all this 100% with the friendly addendum that more recess, time outside, time to move your body and not enforce unrealistic standards of sitting still and doing worksheets for young kids may be seen by some as boy-coded but is really needed and will benefit all kids

It is perhaps not irrelevant to the politics of this on the ground that a huge number of small business people in NY are recent immigrants, esp. south asian and middle eastern and muslim who were a huge part of Mamdani's base
