The Paradox of Tolerance disappears if you look at tolerance, not as a moral standard, but as a social contract. If someone does not abide by the terms of the contract, then they are not covered by it. In other words: The intolerant are not following the rules of the social contract of mutual tolerance. Since they have broken the terms of the contract, they are no longer covered by the contract, and their intolerance should NOT be tolerated. (inspired by "Tolerance is not a moral precept" by Yonatan Zunger) Comment: Sorry as someone who teaches rhetoric this is a wonderful response to the Paradox of Tolerance. I cannot tell you how many times my students have had debates about this. This is the response. This does indeed fix it. I cannot wait to tell this to my classes now. Philosophically and rhetorically this completely resolved the Paradox of Tolerance and I am floored by its simplicity and angry I never saw it before.

Whenever anyone brings up the "paradox of intolerance", I bring up this meme which eliminates the paradox entirely:

I wonder if trump part one's attack on Muslims gave the plants their in. I watched people like Linda Sarsour take over every anti-trump group and naive folks who merely wanted to stand up to Islamophobia got led down a path they didn't know they were on and are too bullheaded to get off.

Their definition of "base" is as confusing to me as their definition of "conscience" but I suppose what links the two is a center of the universe mindset.
