Across the region, civil society n government representatives r pushing for stronger laws, safer systems, and practical pathways for women to claim their rights. These conversations r not abstract; they are about what justice looks like in homes, workplaces, courts, n villages across the Pacific.

As Day 2 of the Asia-Pacific Preparatory Meeting for #CSW70 comes to a close, we carry forward a clear call from FWRM's Executive Director Nalini Singh: it’s time for a decade dedicated to access to justice, so that real, measurable change can reach women in our communities.

Understanding gender-based violence (GBV) means examining power, economic systems, and global inequalities.

The 2026 #DAWNFellowship invites feminist projects on how GBV and conflict shape gender dynamics in Palestine, Sudan, or the DRC.

In WHO talks on the Pathogens Access & Benefit Sharing (PABS) system, the EU is opposing accountability, transparency, and fair returns to countries that share pathogen data.

Equity can’t stop at Europe’s borders. We cannot repeat the glaring inequalities seen during COVID-19.

The double standard is clear. Inside Europe, health data is tightly governed. Outside Europe, the EU argues for weak rules on others’ data.

PABS was meant to fix this. Yet the EU is resisting core safeguards.

Historically, countries have shared pathogens so tests, vaccines, and medicines could be developed. But benefit sharing, even though long recognised in international law, has mostly failed in practice. Patients information and pathogens shared freely, but profits privatised.

The EU may be institutionalising biopiracy, just not at home. In WHO talks on the Pathogens Access & Benefit Sharing (PABS) system, the EU is opposing accountability, transparency, and fair returns to countries that share pathogen data.

#ThursdaysInBlack is about accountability and not symbolism. It means confronting harmful norms, believing survivors, and continuing the work to build safer homes, workplaces, and communities.

FWRM made a submission to the Standing Committee on Justice, Law and Human Rights on the Education Bill ( Bill No. 46 of 2025) earlier this morning. The submission focuses on four(4) priority areas - based on work with girls and young women.
