Ok since I looked this up. Good overview on BC contamination reduction pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31666280/
The Self study I quoted above looks to be the best of its genre.
Some authors are proposing 1.5 to 2 % benchmarks (Halstead et al.). We work on less than 3% currently.
So this is now the question in the genexpert age, what contamination rate are we aiming for and what is the acceptable stewardship and financial cost? And what interventions give the best bang for buck.
