Re. Gary Numan's word-shy Cars: another song that springs to mind is Columbia by Oasis. Six minutes and 17 seconds long but, if you can let a Yeah or two slide, is lyric free for the last three minutes

Reminds me of that Mighty Car Mods miniseries where they spent heaps of cash on a Swift Sport only for it to get pretty much matched by a boggo, knackered 206 modded on the cheap

Sun's out, so took my Fiat 850 Spider out for a spin. It gave me a chance to try its new exhaust for the first time (verdict: it sounds brilliant). I'll be looking to move it on at some point this year, though, so if you know someone who might be interested...

Though when Peugeot was churning out its most miserable stuff also happened to be the time when their cars seem to be really rather rust resistant. But even that isn't a good reason to buy a 307

Really hard to pin down given that some models vary by year. The W203 C-Class I had was awful for rust, but later model years are much more solid. Then by blind luck I found that the opposite is true for VW Lupos; early ones are incredibly solid but from 2003-ish onwards they get a bit crap

There was also something to do with either its location on the car or the colour (I can't remember which) which made illuminated boot logos fine but bonnet ones not. But I believe that's going to change soon too (if huge glowy grilles are fine then it's hard to see why a badge isn't)

re. glowy logos: when the VW I.D Buggy was revealed I asked the designer about them. He said an EU law classed them as a form of advertising - and glowing adverts on vehicles were illegal on safety grounds. Couldn't find many specific links but there was this: www.sae.org/publications...
