Had a great day visiting Astrea Academy Sheffield today. Lovely to see @amercermaths.bsky.social in his new role, get to meet the maths department, & see their scholars in action. Some brilliant work going on to close the gaps with Y10 following their mocks & kicking off with Probability in Y8.

I think w.r.t. parents (and it’s still a very small minority of parents) it’s the clickbaity articles on local news and facebook groups where it’s easy to see others expressed outrage without getting the full picture that worries me.

If I can add my own spicy take similar to this, Covid isn’t fully to blame for the fracturing of home-school relationships, poorer behaviour and attendance as well as worsening MH issues. It accelerated it; but things were getting worse before then.

Social media IMO is the real culprit.

I've spent this evening making a second "Is it plausible?" worksheet as my first one was really successful with my Y11's. I've tried to add more money sense questions into this one to help.

“Say you’ve got two toddlers without saying you’ve got two toddlers” 😐

I love using shadow papers for feedback lessons, it feels like such a quick win for students (this is how you should have done it, have a go at it again) and it’s great quick win for success and motivation. Really quick to put together too 👍

I’ve moved to this method recently too. Definitely makes more sense and has a better links to expanding if you do that via a grid too 👍
