Australia is also in the process of doing away with race tracks so I do think eventually those imported dogs will disappear too... I think galgo will probably be the new 'greyhounds' in the future. I think we will always have nice show lines though!

20.02.2026 20:45 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Today he still cannot put weight on his foot and it is quite sore looking. I think he hit his lower leg while zooming about. It's sensitive to touch but not swollen. Our vet would tell us to wait a couple days so we're just giving him leftover medication for now to help with the discomfort.

Three of our dogs that ended up getting osteo. I really hope they can advance osteo treatment someday.
19.02.2026 23:39 — 👍 7 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I hate the eternal worry with greyhounds + osteosarcoma, it's such an ever-present risk with them. Not that other dog breeds are all healthier, and not that all greyhounds get it, but it's always such a concern with them.

English coursing lines are long gone, they were always my favourite when I was younger. For me who grew up with working grews, as we called them, it is a bittersweet feeling.

Racing line greyhounds have such a high risk for osteosarcoma so it's always my first thought with lameness in the breed. Hopefully it clears up in a day or two.
