I’m so happy to hear people are still discovering Nirvana the Band the Show the Movie and I’m equally happy to hear that it’s still playing in theatres (because it’s the best way to see it.)

…anyone else hear professor Jiang Xueqin’s theory that what might finally burst the AI bubble is Trump attacking Iran because they’re gonna retaliate against the Gulf Arab states rather than the US directly?

No oil money in the GAS = no AI money in the USA 👀

The IOC issued a statement immediately when Russia invaded Ukraine during the same Olympic Truce period in 2022. The IOC then banned Russian athletes from competing under their flag in future Olympics, including Milan-Cortina.

But the IOC isn’t saying anything about the U.S.’s actions right now

It’s so fucking gross that the first thought from these deranged losers is how dystopic scenes of war and bloodshed are a “massive opportunity” for Canada’s oil oligarchs to make a quick buck.

An Iranian Political Dissident on Khamenei’s Killing and What Comes Next From the daily newsletter: Mehdi Mahmoudian fears that military strikes by the U.S. and Israel could usher in deeper crackdowns inside Iran.

Hours after it emerged that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had been killed by an air strike, Mehdi Mahmoudian, the activist and Oscar-nominated co-writer of “It Was Just an Accident,” spoke about his fears for Iran. newyorkermag.visitlink.me/I1__h8

Caught the BBC news on the radio tonight, and Europe is (rightly) NOT happy about Carney’s support of the Iran situation.

“How is the US and Israel’s attacks on Iran any different than Russia’s on Ukraine? Because they’re both breaking all the same international laws and conventions.”

“The lawsuit reveals everything about how these power structures operate. When you can't compete, litigate. When you can't build something better, prevent others from building. When your business model depends on exploitation, call ethical alternatives ‘unfair competition.’"

Trump’s attack on Iran violates UN rules Canada has agreed to uphold. It contradicts numerous values PM Carney claimed he supported in Davos. Endorsing illegality, violence, & destruction over dialogue and peaceful resolution is not what Canadians were promised, or support.

Office of the Prime Minister
Cabinet du
Premier Ministre
Statement by Prime Minister Carney and
Minister Anand on the situation in the Middle East
"The Canadian government is closely following Iran-related hostilities throughout the Middle East and urges all Canadians in Iran to shelter in place. Canadians in the wider region should follow local advice and take all necessary precautions.
Canada's position remains clear: the Islamic Republic of Iran is the principal source of instability and terror throughout the Middle East, has one of the world's worst human rights records, and must never be allowed to obtain or develop nuclear weapons.
Canada and our international partners have consistently called upon the Iranian regime to end its nuclear program, including at the 2025 G7 Leaders' Summit in Kananaskis and with the United Nations' reimposition of sanctions in September.
Despite diplomatic efforts, Iran has neither fully dismantled its nuclear program, halted all enrichment activities, nor ended its support for regional terrorist proxy groups. Canada stands with the Iranian people in their long and courageous struggle against Iran's oppressive regime. Canada has listed the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist entity, and has sanctioned 256 Iranian entities and 222 individuals in response to the regime's repression and its violence both against its own people, and persistently, beyond its borders. Canada reaffirms Israel's right to defend itself and to ensure the security of its people.
Canada supports the United States acting to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to prevent its regime from further threatening international peace and security.
The Canadian government urges the protection of all civilians in this conflict. We will take all possible measures to protect our nationals and Canadian diplomatic missions throughout the region."

CNN reporting that the strikes on Iran tonight are joint US and Israeli strikes.

Which means Donald Trump should be impeached for a third time.

What he has done tonight is illegal under the US constitution and the UN charter.

By stepping aside, it’s effectively allowing rich failson David Ellison to overpay for Warner Bros. Discovery — a move that will saddle one of Netflix’s biggest competitors with enormous debt and weigh it down for years to come. The cherry on top is that he has to write Netflix a $2.8 billion check just to cover the breakup fee.

Ellison can talk about all the tech synergies he will drive, but in reality he’s simply mashing together two unsuccessful media conglomerates. This is the same guy who paid $150 million for a rightwing blog just so he could install someone with no broadcast or journalism experience as the head of CBS News. There’s just no scenario where he’s able to outmaneuver Netflix, Disney, and YouTube, especially if the AI bubble pops, which would then send his dad’s Oracle stock plummeting.

The second and third richest men control Google.

The fourth richest man owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

The fifth richest man owns The Washington Post.

And now the sixth richest could soon take over both Paramount and Warner Bros.

So you’ve been nominated for an Oscar John welcomes writer-directors Natalie Musteata and Alexandre Singh (Two People Exchanging Saliva) to ask, what happens when your short film is nominated for an Oscar? They look at each step from thei...

"Do you have any ideas that are set in a luxury department store?"

Two People Exchanging Saliva was prompted into existence by producers who understood that their job is to:
1) find creative funding opportunities, then
2) let filmmakers bring their creative vision to that opportunity.
