In each of 2016, 2020 and 2024, the Dem candidate and third party support groups raised and spent more than Trump and his third party support groups. While I think Citizens United was an incorrect interpretation of the law, it isn’t the reason that Clinton and Harris lost.

Legally, the government can release documents even if they are pertinent to an ongoing investigation. That may compromise the government’s ability to get a conviction, but that’s very different than saying that the government “can’t release the files” if an investigation is ongoing.

On ongoing investigation gives the government an excuse to withhold documents, but it does not legally prevent the government from releasing documents if the government wants to do so or is required to do so pursuant to a new law passed by Congress and not vetoed.

According to the poll, among those 45 and older only 14% of women and 8% of men would like to move to another country.

I did not say anything remotely close to proposing that Buttigieg not run, or that Dem primary voters should not decide who will be the Dem nominee. I simply pointed out that he is a quintessential “Establishment” Dem, something that your comment appears to acknowledge.

The governments of both China and Japan have expressed concern about falling birth rates and have adopted policies to encourage more births. Clearly, they aren’t concerned about falling “white” birth rates.

Buttigieg is a centrist who worked for management consulting firm McKinsey, served in the Navy Reserve, and was Secretary of Transportation in the Biden administration. That makes him an “Establishment” candidate.

SCOTUS expedited briefing and the hearing, so it’s reasonable to anticipate that it also will expedite the issuance of a decision. I anticipate no later than January, but possibly in December.

There is no doubt that animosity towards Musk has had a negative impact on Tesla vehicle sales.

However, Tesla’s main problem is that its product line is stale and its competitors provide better vehicles for lower prices.

The authors of the Constitution virtually guaranteed the creation of a two-party system by requiring that a President get a majority, rather than a plurality, of the Electoral College votes.

Political insiders in Sacramento may have thought (more likely, hoped) that Padilla would be one of the favorites for Governor, but none of the polls have supported any such thought or hope.

Giving a federal LEO fast food to eat probably poses a greater threat to the LEO’s health than throwing that same fast food at the LEO.

Starting with an incorrect premise usually leads to an incorrect conclusion. The Welcome PAC starts with the premise that the “middle” is satisfied with the status quo. Thus, it incorrectly concludes that the way for Dems to win in slightly red districts is to support the status quo.

Accepting a pardon is not an admission of guilt. Lorance v. Commandant, 13 F.4th 1150.

Chen’s admission of guilt occurred when he pled guilty in court.

It was already clear that we have a K-shaped economy. This is just more evidence of that.

The real issue, I think, is whether the top 5% decide soon enough to make (or allow) the changes necessary to prevent the remaining 95% from taking violent action to change the shape of the economy.

With few exceptions, like withholding taxes related to state employees, California doesn’t pay funds to the federal government. Almost all of the money that goes to the federal government from California is paid directly to the feds by individuals and companies located in California.

Do you own guns and ammo? If not, your actions are inconsistent with what you say. Or, alternatively, you have a death wish.

When millions of people are starving in a nation in which there are more than 350 million firearms in private possession, being unarmed is practically a death sentence.

Not usually. You can ask the court for permission to file a substitute copy, but unless the purpose of doing so is to correct typos or something similar, permission is highly unlikely to be granted.

Nebraska is a red state, so any Dem running for statewide office there needs the help of the party. That isn’t the case for a Dem running for a House seat in California.

Remember what happened to Pete Aguilar in 2012.

No. Not that it matters, because the initial version of the sentencing memorandum is still part of the court’s record.

Highly unusual, but not illegal. Also pretty stupid because of the publicity this has generated.

The original sentencing memorandum is still part of the court’s record, and it would take a court order to get it removed.

You seem to think that the Dems (DNC or DCCC?) somehow can prevent a Dem from running in the primary of a CA district in which a GOPer starts caucusing with the Dems. I consider that highly unlikely. Neither the national nor the state party has that level of control.

Aside from the fact that Valadao doesn’t represent Bakersfield, not a single Republican in his district would vote for him if he switched, nor would many Dems. But feel free to live in your fantasy world where Dem voters suddenly fall in love with GOPers who switch parties.

There is no such thing as a “GOP primary” in California, so this fantasy wouldn’t work there.

Can you identify even a single Republican rep in CA who might be reelected after becoming an independent and caucusing with the Dems? If not, then this is just a fantasy, not a strategy.

No. Aside from the fact that he didn’t personally prosecute anyone all the way to a conviction, the court held that he still holds a valid appointment as the FAUSA.
