On August 2, we gather in refusal to accept corruption as inevitable. Refusal to let voices be bought or silenced. Refusal to forget what was taken.

Speak out and laugh together. If truth in a joke unsettles them, they won’t be able to withstand what the collective truth can do.

for the same reason; informed people ask questions, draw connections, and refuse to blindly obey. In societies slipping toward authoritarianism like America is right now, satire and scholarship are the first to go because a population that laughs and learns is a population that can’t be controlled.

When autocracy takes root, it’s the comedians who are the first to be silenced, because they hold up a mirror to power, exposing hypocrisy with a laugh that hits harder than any speech. Authoritarian regimes fear humor because it undermines their manufactured image of strength. They fear education

Days later, the Late Night stage was gone, and the FCC approved Paramount's $8 billion merger with Skydance, delivering billions to Trump allies and control of CBS News to those who pledge loyalty.

In past weeks the silencing of dissent has followed a familiar script, in a pattern pulled straight from the authoritarian playbook. Colbert spoke sharp truth as always, calling out the $16M payment from Paramount to Donald Trump for the "big fat bribe" that it was.

This isn’t just protest. It’s preparation. Show up. Speak out. Walk away.

And afterward, let your frustrations of these past few months loose and dance. Join us for a Rave Against the Regime to blow off the rage and exhaustion. (If it’s on NPS grounds, no bar—but plenty of local spots to hit up after!)

While that is happening, we hold a people’s assembly. Not a rally for one voice, but a forum for all. We’ll share our stories, our truths, and begin shaping the moves that come next. This is protest on our terms.

On August 2nd, join us in a symbolic act of refusal. Meet us at the RAC tents at Columbus Circle in front of Union Station. From 6-8pm, arrive when you can. We will move and walk away from the Capitol in teams.

Wear what makes you feel powerful. Bring your signs. Let this walk mean something.

Immigrants and citizens alike disappeared off the streets by ICE. Medicaid and SNAP slashed while billionaires profit. The Epstein files buried while the closest living witness is tampered with in front of our eyes. Corruption in plain sight. And the House moves to recess, simply to hide their lies.
