The Venneshamn orphans, winners of the 1925 Snowman Contest in Inderøy, Norway, pose for the newspaper. They called their creation Farfar (grandpa).
The kids said they would "feed" it every day so it would last throughout the winter. Despite some decay, it outlasted every other competitor.

Diamondback Squids (Thysanoteuthis rhombus) lay their eggs in these giant coils. They are made up of a cylinder of mucous with two threads of eggs wound around it.

The egg masses have a length of .6 to 1.8 m with a diameter of 11 to 30 cm and can contain 35,000 to 75,000 eggs.
