The picture shows an activity for our Farm Detectives workshop about tracking the progression of a bacterial outbreak as if the participant is a public health investigator. Some pupils and a parent helper are sitting around a table wearing lab coats. There is a board in the middle of the table designed to look like a field with a river flowing through it and icons marking 6 farms. There are laminated icons showing which farms have infected cows, where they got their cows from and what products they sell from their cows. There is also a laminated flood icon placed in between two of the farms. Other cards are seen around the table with information about the farms and recent weather events. The pupils are pointing at the farms and discussing what they have figured out from this information.
We had a busy 3-workshop week here at EBSOC! Tuesday saw us heading to Brunstane PS for our Trypanosome Outbreak Labπ§ͺ. on Wednesday Loanhead PS visited us in the lab for Farm Detectivesπ, and on Thursday we visited Niddrie Mill PS at @intouniversity.bsky.social Craigmillar for Outbreak Labπ§ͺ again!

A picture of our stall at the Royal Society of Biology's Annual Teachers Meeting in Glasgow featuring a table covered in a red table cloth with "The University of Edinburgh: Easter Bush Science Outreach Centre" printed in white on the front. On the table sits a screen showing a picture of some students taking part in one of our workshops holding pipettes and loading an agarose gel, some posters advertising our workshops and how to keep in touch with QR codes, an ELISA "sandwich" magnetic jigsaw with laminated worksheets used in our ELISA workshop, and some branded pencils in a branded cup. Standing in front of the table there is a knee height stuffed cow and to the right there is a branded Easter Bush Science Outreach Centre banner.
A picture of the conference room set up with chairs facing a projector screen and round tables positioned at the back of the room. On the screen there is an introduction slide that reads "Easter Bush Science Outreach Centre: SQA Lab Techniques in Action" surrounded by the Roslin Institute Logo, The University of Edinburgh Logo, and the UKRI logo. The background in a blue to green gradient tinted picture of the Roslin Institute. Our Education and Engagement Officer, Charis, stands behind a lectern at the right hand side of the screen and teachers are spread out throughout the tables and chairs around the room.
