I think last week one of the NBC guys said he doesn’t run the channels and is more known for hold up play?!? Doesn’t NBC have interns with internet access?

Sincere question (I hope I don’t get blocked!): what cooperation with the ICE detention by Columbia are you referring to? I’m following this story closely (I think!), and I haven’t seen that accusation elsewhere.

TBF, she does talk about understaffing, but I agree it would be very interesting to see data on the rise of self checkout against shrink rates. My impression is that CVS has been the most aggressive on both self-checkout and locked up shelves

But FWIW, does Walmart do lockups with the same eagerness? Not to sound like That Guy, but I don’t go to big box stores very often, so maybe I’m way off base. But I was recently in New Haven Walmart and I don’t recall anything being locked up

Sorry to be unclear — I agree Target is very lockup happy. My sense is that supermarkets (which I think have a lot of overlap with drug stores in terms of product) rarely do the lockups you describe. (But maybe that’s just idiosyncratic to my UWS locals? Rarely shop in other neighborhoods)

The drug stores are fully locked up, but the other two — selling many of the same goods — have no locks at all. Makes me skeptical that gangs of Tide bandits are looking for easy victims. Would love to know more about how different kinds of stores manage this risk differently [2/2]

My unsystematic impression is that the lock-up is mostly a phenomena of drug stores and some Target style general retailers. My NYC neighborhood has a CVS, Duane Reade, a supermarket, & a home store within 3 blocks. [1/2]
