I think this is a great question

I think last week one of the NBC guys said he doesnโ€™t run the channels and is more known for hold up play?!? Doesnโ€™t NBC have interns with internet access?

I feel called out (To be clear, I am not the cat in this scenario.)

We were just in CA for a few days, and randomly caught Jaws on hotel cableโ€” we were totally sucked in, and Rachel wound up staying up to midnight (!) just to โ€œsee how it ends.โ€

Do you have a link to the decision? Or at least a docket number for anyone who wants to pull it off PACER?

Be prepared for radically expanded accusations of national security threats.

Sorry, I missed this reply. No, Iโ€™ve heard nothing like that. Candidly, I would not have expected her to, but I suspect you would disagree.

People who didnโ€™t click through should be aware that this warrant application was filed in March, but only made public today โ€” thatโ€™s the โ€œNEWโ€ in the original post. These events didnโ€™t happen today.

Thank you for responding. Is there a particular statement #2 refers to, or just the mush of โ€œwe will work with the administration to address legitimate concerns about anti-semitismโ€ theyโ€™ve issued since the $400MM funding cuts?

10.03.2025 22:50 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Sincere question (I hope I donโ€™t get blocked!): what cooperation with the ICE detention by Columbia are you referring to? Iโ€™m following this story closely (I think!), and I havenโ€™t seen that accusation elsewhere.

This was my question too โ€” as I understand it, normally the sending bank initiates the reversal, but who/what is the sending bank here?

Thank you for the follow up โ€” I think this topic is fascinating because it feels so much like collective economic irrationality

TBF, she does talk about understaffing, but I agree it would be very interesting to see data on the rise of self checkout against shrink rates. My impression is that CVS has been the most aggressive on both self-checkout and locked up shelves

Sorry! I must have missed that. Thanks for sharing the gift link, btw โ€” always admired your work, and since you went to BB I rarely get to read it

But FWIW, does Walmart do lockups with the same eagerness? Not to sound like That Guy, but I donโ€™t go to big box stores very often, so maybe Iโ€™m way off base. But I was recently in New Haven Walmart and I donโ€™t recall anything being locked up

01.12.2024 18:58 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 3    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Sorry to be unclear โ€” I agree Target is very lockup happy. My sense is that supermarkets (which I think have a lot of overlap with drug stores in terms of product) rarely do the lockups you describe. (But maybe thatโ€™s just idiosyncratic to my UWS locals? Rarely shop in other neighborhoods)

01.12.2024 18:56 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 6    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The drug stores are fully locked up, but the other two โ€” selling many of the same goods โ€” have no locks at all. Makes me skeptical that gangs of Tide bandits are looking for easy victims. Would love to know more about how different kinds of stores manage this risk differently [2/2]

01.12.2024 18:48 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 9    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

My unsystematic impression is that the lock-up is mostly a phenomena of drug stores and some Target style general retailers. My NYC neighborhood has a CVS, Duane Reade, a supermarket, & a home store within 3 blocks. [1/2]
