I also don't trust a parent who acts like they can't enjoy what their kid watches. Not only does it create an artificial divide between generations, it makes the kid feel like the parent is ashamed of them and like they have to only enjoy grown-up stuff at FAR too early an age.

It's totally fair if you don't like EVERYTHING your kid watches. Or if you need a freaking break to watch movies YOU want to watch. But it is a *really* bad idea to shame your kid for being a fricking kid.
