Such a grimy film. You need a shower after watching it.
04.03.2026 01:03 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0What did you think? Best in the series since Aliens for me!
04.03.2026 00:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh man, if you haven't seen this, I highly recommend carving out 90 mins for it. It's so silly.
03.03.2026 14:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0the poster for star crash, showing caroline munro firing a gun, and marjoe gortner holding some kind of light...sword. In the background is a robot holding two guns and a spaceship.
I need a palate cleanse. #nowwatching Starcrash (1978), a Roger Corman-produced Star Wars knock-off in which ex-child preacher Marjoe Gortner and impractical clothes-wearer Caroline Munro are recruited by Chrisopher Plummer and David Hasselhoff to save the universe from evil Joe Spinell.
03.03.2026 13:15 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0If you're into cannibal films, it's something different. For everyone else, I'd recommend hopping straight to the director's follow-up Satan's Slave (1980), a much better and significantly less depressing film.
03.03.2026 11:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There's a good bit of gore, though the nudity is toned down. I was hoping the animal violence would be limited to inserted nature documentary footage. but we do, unfortunately, get a lot of the real deal towards the end. I wouldn't have watched it if I'd known that going in.
03.03.2026 11:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I mean, this is pretty much what you'd imagine: A slightly more amateurish version of the Italian cannibal cycle. It's set in a nondescript 'jungle', and all the actors are Indonesian, so while I have a very strong feeling it's racist, I'm not sure against who exactly...
03.03.2026 11:52 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0You know how annoying it is when one of your long-term niche interests suddenly becomes popular? That's sort of how I feel about the Green Party of England and Wales at the moment. As a lifelong contrarian I might have to resign my membership and join a different left-libertarian ecosocialist party.

Another foray into Indonesian horror... #nowwatching Primitives (1980), Indonesia's first and only attempt at an Italian-style cannibal film. Very much hoping they resist the urge to do any live animal slaughter, but...well...let's see. #horrorsky
03.03.2026 08:00 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 1I LOVE this film. Incredible soundtrack too.
03.03.2026 05:57 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hmm. This looked very beautiful, but it was almost painfully slow. Also, not the first time, these Severin box sets are using a very liberal definition of 'horror' - this was more a dark fantasy drama than anything else. I'm sure there's an audience for this, but that audience isn't me.
03.03.2026 04:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The poster for scales, showing a girl lying on a shoreline, with scales on her feet
#nowwatching Scales (2019), a Saudi/UAE/Iraqi co-produced film about a young girl growing up in a village with a dark tradition. #horrorsky
03.03.2026 03:36 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 1Yeah, I agree. I track it because of fitness stuff, but even then a lot of the recommendations online are crazy. Based on advice from a nephrologist I aim for about 90-100g a day, which is well below the 160-200g that people often recommend online. It can't be good for you to eat that much...
02.03.2026 22:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah, the ambition outstripped the budget a bit - it still looked pretty good though, for what they had!
02.03.2026 22:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Sometimes they suggest you add an extra dash of lemon juice to help with the flavour, thus adding a slight citrusy twist to your plate of gritty slurry.
02.03.2026 14:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I like it when the 'high protein' version of a recipe is just the same recipe but with an added scoop of protein powder, thereby completely ruining both the taste and texture of the dish.
02.03.2026 14:42 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Great fun! I enjoyed the amount of screen time spent boating along the river, and it's always nice to see Tasha Yar/Bing Crosby's granddaughter in stuff.
02.03.2026 14:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The poster for eliminators showing an android on treads shooting from an arm mounted cannon, surrounded by other characters holding guns and swords.
#nowwatching Eliminators (1986), a Charles Band produced action/sci-fi film about a 'mandroid' teaming up with several other characters to take down a mad scientist. I was alerted to this one by @reelobscurepod.bsky.social - check out the episode!
02.03.2026 11:21 β π 8 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0An unconditional five stars from me. See it!
02.03.2026 06:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This was excellent! The set design and cinematography were incredible. The make up and costumes were fantastic too. Brilliantly atmospheric and dreamlike, with impish creatures appearing in the shadows and the beast swooping in and out of frame. The whole thing is a contrast between greed and love.
02.03.2026 06:29 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The poster showing a woman with one eye and a blank face in expensive robes.
#nowwatching Beauty and the Beast (1978), a horror-fantasy retelling of the fairy tale from Czechoslovakia. So far, the atmosphere is truly dark and suffocating. #horrorsky
02.03.2026 02:36 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 1Yeah, it reminds me of when I was a kid and one of my friends had the idea of setting up a 'back-in-time' museum, not realising that every museum is a 'back-in-time' museum...
01.03.2026 23:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Apparently it's part of the 'Dark Serial Killers Universe'. Sounds...whatever the opposite of 'promising' is. deadline.com/2025/11/twis...
01.03.2026 15:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I tried to pay attention to this, but after about 30 minutes I was completely lost. I don't know if it was a good movie. It was definitely in bad taste - I can say that for certain!
01.03.2026 14:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Wrong Turn 2 is where the series really hits its stride, before immediately jumping the shark in Wrong Turn 3.

01.03.2026 13:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The cover of the box set, showing various characters above a trio of crocodiles.
Severin is bringing out a Suzzanna box set?! Shut up and take my money.

#nowwatching Ted Bunny (2026). A documentary crew set out to interview one of Ted Bundy's surviving victims, and get more than they bargained for. No idea how the bunny aspect is going to be worked in, but I have a feeling this is all going to be in terrible taste. #horrorsky
01.03.2026 11:19 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 1A pretty standard horror of the time, but well shot and with the regular appearance of a creepy dead girl. I liked it!
