I clowned up the first week or two as expected but then got clear with trace tannins like it is now. For it the filter is just for surface film and bc shrimp like to graze on sponge filters.
I keep trying things with the second one but nothing has worked yet.
I know - and highly frustrating.
I rarely change water on the first one, just top it up.
The second one I water change all the time, have terrestrial plants rooting all around the sides to take nutrients out of the water, have added more aquatic plants.
Both tanks have a small sponge filter. ????
