Across America and the world, people are realizing itβs not possible to appease Americaβs dictator.
The only way to deal with him is to stand up to him β and the only way to stand up to him is by joining together against him.
It's time for a massive general strike across the country.
Fucking do something, @repbonamici.bsky.social

every single successful general strike in US history has had union backing through the local AFL-CIO
this is the first time itβs been called for since the 1940s
I know that some here will disagree, but when then Nobel committee gave Obama a peace prize, it cheapened the honor. Obama, like Machado, had done nothing to warrent such an accolade.
All he did was win an election after W was president. Why on earth would that deserve a peace prize?

14.01.2026 01:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I don't think France would do anything unless and until all of Europe is ready to act. I can't imagine a centrist (read center rightist) like Macron would be keen. The Spanish government (likely with Denmark) will be the force pushing the rest of the continent into action, if anything.
11.01.2026 05:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0These are prerequisite conditions for a war of territorial expansion.
11.01.2026 05:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The US is engineering a depression and working overtime to quash internal dissent. Renee Good won't be the last as the Republican party is prepared to commit atrocities to silence criticism, even if that means turning the concentration camps already in place into death camps.

This is assuming that the US military hasn't already invaded both of these countries.
If the US were to take Mexico and Central America down to Panama, as they seem keen to do, it means an amphibious invasion akin to D- day would be necessary.
Canada would need to be bolstered to hold two fronts (Alaska and the lower 48) though might be best to pursue the same strategy as the USSR did in WWII, while the main invasion force would need to muster in Mexico and proceed overland, maybe across the border in the western part of New Mexico.
11.01.2026 04:22 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0China is the only country that has the potential industrial capability to ramp up enough might to actually fight a conventional war in the USA. It would certainly have to be a multilateral war including both Mex and Can, all of Europe and likely India. That would require a massive realignment.

How does this all end?
If nobody is going to hold Trump accountable for breaking the law and brazenly overthrowing the leader of Venezuela, how and when will he be held accountable?
This has the makings of the beginning of WWIII.

So, if New Zealand needs more money to fund its health and education systems, infrastructure, and so on, creating a strongly progressive tax system, where all income is subject to income tax, would not only work, it would cause an economic boom and supply heaps of jobs at higher wages.

The broadly increased income also resulted in a larger tax take, which allowed the government to invest in large scale projects such as interstate highways, medicare for those over 65, and going to the moon.
28.12.2025 07:10 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Due, in large part to strongly progressive taxation, income was redistributed from the rich to the rest of society, either by the choice of business owners to take less income or through direct taxation.
28.12.2025 07:10 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0While it certainly wasn't a perfect time for many (women, minorities, lgbtq), it is commonly accepted that from an economic standpoint, this was the hayday of growth and opportunity for the vast majority of Americans which lasted a couple decades until neo-liberalism took hold.
28.12.2025 07:10 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
In 1952 in the USA, the income tax rates on income earned in excess of $400,000 (about $4.9m USD or about $8.4 NZD today) was 92%.
This caused massive reinvestment into the working class, generational upward mobility, and unparalleled prosperity for broad swaths of society.
So what tax policy increases demand, giving tax breaks to the wealthy or increasing the taxes of the millionaires so they'd rather reinvest in their workers' wages and growing their businesses rather than taking another dollar in income for themselves?

Every political party says they want more good paying jobs, but what causes a business to hire?
Increased demand.
