So, after a long overnight shift, caring for an elderly woman recently afflicted with an infection that left her bed-bound, when she and her gentle, loving husband asked me to snip a bouquet of daffodils for me to take home, my heart almost burst.

A bouquet of shimmering daffodils kissed by the sun, extending up from a gorgeous earthy vase of yellow and orange with drips of green and blue.
They were unaware of the joy these cheerful flowers brought me as they waved to greet me the day before. I was a child when I transposed William Wordsworth's, "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" for my grandmother, painting daffodils with soft colored pencils.

After more than 20 years in architecture, I pivoted to a much more rewarding career.
