Albertans can only hope...
04.02.2025 00:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I thought you might like to see this delightful little spinning wheel I found in an antique store last week. It's fully functional and just barely taller than the Mason jar full of roses.
01.02.2025 19:36 β π 11 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Someone at knit night said that autistic people can't feel empathy.
No one got hurt and I'm not in jail, but knit night knows where I stand on ableist bullshit now.
And they STILL tried to explain that autism makes people less than human.
I may need a new knit night.
Now they hate the project and can't work on it, and they dread going to their knit group because the teasing hasn't stopped.
This is not how to do a KAL. This is not community. Be better, knitters.
I heard a knitting story today that filled me with ire, so I need to share it with someone.
Someone joined their friends in a knit-along and then fell behind the group. So the friends started teasing them about it and shaming them for starting another project before they finished the KAL.
Thanks so much! And I love your knitting bowl and buddy.
20.01.2025 23:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I have three separate medically diagnosed conditions that cause me periods of intense physical pain. Most of the time, it's manageable.
Today, all three are beating the living crap out of me.
I'm loving having a local knitting group to gather with again, but I have to develop a better poker face.
I know entirely too much about yarn and I've been told I don't hide my reactions to common misapprehensions about yarn in knitting and crochet very well.
(Confession: I've been here since the early days, but I've only used my account to lurk. But more of my people are migrating here,so it's time to speak up.)

I guess it's time to show up here. I'm Michelle and I am a Master Spinner, fibre expert, and writer whose first book about spinning has just come out. I live with multiple chronic conditions that cause me pain and disabilities, so I talk about that almost as much as I talk about yarn things.
