I've been reading you for more than a decade but I won't go to substack anymore (it's not you, it's the Nazis). I'd be thrilled if you moved though I know it's a massive endeavor.

08.08.2025 11:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'm seeing less posts about the Visa and Mastercard situation and I want to make it plain as day. You need to keep calling and bothering them, and losing them money.
Because if we lose this, they are going to cut more and more from what's available until you can only buy what they approve of.
I love all of this for you. The loft looks gorgeous!

05.08.2025 20:46 β π 167 π 81 π¬ 3 π 0I love this! The color palette, the font treatment, the level of detail (not too much blank space, but enough, so it feels busy in a cozy way), the sketchy illustrations. This is a very well designed cover.

Tell authors you love their work! Or, you know, at least tell me. I'm an xennial former gifted kid+ I need constant positive reinforcement

04.08.2025 03:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The index cards are my only trick and no one ever listens to me but it's fine.
I also draft in a silly font, but that's just science.
Well and we all just need feedback in very specific ways. I get aggro when people say, "you should do this," but if they say, "I'm seeing this problem, here's how I would solve it, how would you?" I'm like ooh we're conspiring.
Relatedly my brain is broken.
Sometimes you have to physically move the scenes around on the floor like puzzle pieces to figure out why the plot or character arc is stuck. Because the pieces are in the wrong order. And you need to see them all at once. On index cards. On your floor. Trust me.
04.08.2025 02:57 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1Get the fucking index cards.
No, yeah, I know you don't want to, you think you can just do it in scrivener or whatever. Nope. Physically touch card stock and a marker.
Get the color coded index cards and write on them in sharpie and lay them out on the floor in order and then rearrange them.
I have to outline, every time, and I fucking hate it and have to relearn every time, but your other two points are dead on for me. Just find like 2 people who actually really get who you are as an artist and will respond to emails in a timely manner. More than that, is too much.

it's like... One of the few things I don't hate about living here tbh
I'm also drafting a time loop YA that's like "I don't want to be fated to fall in love with you, but alas here we are." And then there's Levi + Hannah... It's a whole thing. I'm probably working through something. ππ
03.08.2025 03:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0π yeah there's no pack rank this book, just more human pack dynamics. Because ... Even the guy who wrote the alpha study said he was wrong.
I tend to write books about people who feel fated and are uncomfortable with it so it made sense for me to do that here, too. It's one of my leitmotifs.
They do accidentally trigger a fated mate bond but then they work like hell to get out of it. It's not... Really a shifter book, genre wise, like they meet at a Chicago karaoke bar + their bubbes try to set them up at Rosh Hashanah. It's a romcom, with very dirty wolf sex.
