Extraordinary beauty this morning in Braemar. The Morrone birkwood is high enough to retain the freezing fog longer into the day. And then, even after the fog clears and the hillsides warm up, the Braemar frost hollow keeps the woodland cold.

Storm Amy has been wild, currently tucked up in my van north of Lochinver, it has been a long 18+ hours of this torrential rain and winds. Happy to be cosy in van 🚐 I had a lovely birthday yesterday with a chilly sea dip, beaches & otter watching before the storm hit. This is my view tonight 😬

Rainbow in a dark sky.

Well I never... a rainbow appeared before sunrise, created just by the light of an orange and red glow in the east. There's a first time for everything. I've certainly never see such a thing before.

My first thought on reading this was which one could this be?
