Ishgard is no stranger to prejudice, even to children of noble houses. And Limsa is no stranger to anyone trying to make their mark on the world, regardless of background.

Captain Mary Reed is a tall, authoritative Duskwight. Hair white as snow and eyes a deep green. Clad in aristocratic but practical clothing consistent of a bright green tailcoat, white dress shirt combined with military thighboots, tight manoeuvrable pants and fingerless gloves. Born a bastard twin of a noble house within Ishgard's Holy See, by birth they were hidden away for their blue pigmentation, unable to hide their illegitimacy from the kingdom, resulting in their ostracization within their very home. Barely even of age, their parents tossed Mary and her twin brother out into the brume to fend for themselves, out of fear of causing controversy if found to be children of noble blood. This sparked a harsh fire within the young lass that would burn for the rest of her life. Eventually she and her brother stowed away into Central Eorzea, where then the two would be taken in by the local conjurers of the Shroud where they would be taught in the healing arts. They wanted more however, but this is where they'd split. Mary wished to become someone far more aggressive, while her brother wanted to be a humble travelling healer. Her brother chased Sharlayan, while Mary went westward, to La Noscea, grandiose goals to become a Pioneer who takes pity on those abandoned by their homes and brings justice to the oppressors. A goal she would achieve, with the bond and support of a Samurai with Bozjan heritage. She would become captain of the Wings of Liberation, a Pioneer crew made almost entirely of misfits, people without a home to return to. She can be harsh, aggressive and cold, but behind that is a bleeding heart who will take in the ones no one wants and bring them in to her campfire heart upon her ship.
