Banjo's creator himself has reiterated several times that N&B is Threeie. Furthermore, there was already a ROM hack called Banjo Threeie made by another guy, so I wanted to avoid confusion. And many Banjo fans like N&B, so call it 4 was the most reasonable decision imo
